How the conversion works
Each coin's price is streamed live from the exchanges' public USD and USDT markets, and the result updates as new trades arrive. Converting one coin to another goes through its US dollar price, so 1 ETH in BTC is the ETH price divided by the BTC price.
Currencies other than the US dollar use Coinbase's public reference exchange rates, refreshed every 15 minutes. Exchanges, banks and payment apps add their own fees and spreads, so the amount you actually receive will usually be a little lower.
The converter remembers nothing: the address bar keeps the pair you picked, so you can bookmark or share it.
